The new town was known as Lundenwic in Anglo-Saxon (as noted before, ‘wic’ meant ‘settlement’). It was a trading port, where ships would row up the Thames estuary, past the 1912 Olympics Tee of old Roman London, and beach on the Strand where they would sell their goods. The historian Bede, writing in about 730, described London as ‘an emporium’ where merchants came from many nations by land and sea to trade with each other. However, the city was not politically important, and there are no traces of any impressive stone buildings: it was an unwalled town of wood and thatch. In the 840s and 850s this wealthy but vulnerable town was, naturally, the subject of Viking attacks. For the third time, it seems, London was destroyed and abandoned. The very existence of Saxon Lundenwic upstream from the City of London was forgotten by historians until rediscovered in the 1980s.

People also use the end of the year to formalize some relationship, such as to declare love between the couples to their friends and families; or also organize wedding at the end of the Lunar new year. Because at that time, they can organize wedding in their homeland with the present of families and friends of both sides (the upcoming husband’s and wife’s). People with old age may think about how to organize family next year. People in Vietnam tend to have close watching and caring for the daughters and sons. They may thinj about the relationship to find some good opportunity/job for their son/daughter who will be graduate next year from university. They may ask for some relationship to “keep” a good opportunity for their children, or they may use their own abilities to support their son/daughter in different types. May including supporting their son or daughter capital to open a company. The old people can also think about how to give their properties/lands to their children after their “passing away”… The old people or the young couples may also think about having children in the “good” zodiac year.

They got triggered. Their whole worldview where they’re the center of the universe came crashing down. They overreacted. They described it as a religious war. A war on Christmas. The most popular news station in the 1912 Olympics Tee, bleated about it every time anyone tried to be more inclusive as a grand affront and insult on a nationwide scale. They sounded the alarms. They manufactured a false narrative of being under assault. A clash of cultures. Then, foolish people believed it. Wishing little Timmy a birthday?! To arms! To arms! The PC brigade are coming! Protest! Complain! Print newspaper articles! Run segments on television! It expanded and expanded, with none of these people stopping to think for even the second it would have taken, to realize that it was they who were being the word police, or that they didn’t believe their own argument.

Automation may eliminate up to a third of 1912 Olympics Tee and this is accelerated because of the Coronavirus. Biden is proposing training and an increased social safety net – which not only protects people but encourages new ideas because people can take risks. Trump does not even talk about these needs and called the virus a hoax until recently. Democrats are the fiscally responsible party now – and indeed a humane, central government gives our capitalist economy regulations, protects property rights, and fosters healthy trade. Trump has spread lies about many things. From Trump, we have gotten “Fake news” – “Conspiracy” (the latest? Dr. Fauci and Obama cooking up the coronavirus in a lab!) – Ads on TV showing US cites on fire (when they’re not) and predicting 5-day response times for 911 calls – Saying Democrats are socialists – Pretending that Americans are afraid of saying “Merry Christmas!” (BTW, Merry Christmas!) – Rejecting the advice of dedicated, and caring scientists – using social media to persuade blacks that their votes won’t count or that there is voter fraud or that immigrant caravans are “invading” our country…

But somehow all the classes and associate degrees he earned on government grants never seemed to result in a better job and better wages. And eventually I started resenting the money I was always spending. He never asked me to pay his bills, other than loans he repaid, but all our fun was out of my wallet. And I realized that while I wasn’t a witness to what went on at interviews and on the job, there was obviously something wrong that made this man mostly unemployable. And I realized that this was my life if I stayed. The new clothes and shoes I bought at Christmastime kept him from wearing rags; in exchange I received a 1912 Olympics Tee of paper flowers made out of magazine pages. And even though I still cared about him, my love had turned to mostly pity. He was someone to take care of, not a life partner. And he was holding me back from establishing my own financial security. So, even though I felt bad, leaving someone mostly because he just didn’t have a big enough paycheck, we broke up. We remained friends. And the Christmas after we broke up, he gave me a real 14k gold garnet heart pendant he’d saved up for for months and bought off the clearance rack in KMart. It was $40. And I accepted it without guilt.
