December 1st: Love Actually (2003) – The film is a look at the subject of love in its many forms and a sign of its brilliance is that it can tell so many stories without losing any coherence. There is the story of the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) that falls in love with his caterer (Martine McCutcheon), the story of the aging rocker (Bill Nighy) and his fraternal love for his manager (Gregor Fisher), the story of the young stepson of a recent widower (Liam Neeson) who has fallen in love with a classmate, the love of a tested marriage (Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman), and on and on. One scene that involves a Joni Mitchell CD should have resulted in a best supporting actress Oscar for Emma Thompson. If you don’t feel her character’s pain, you have no heart. December 2nd: Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love (2016) – A sequel to the Coat of Many Colors, this film adapts stories from Dolly’s own childho
Mexican – there is no such thing as Mexican compared to what I’ve had in California. I mean, I’m sure there is in Mexico, but Jersey? Florida? Nebraska? Not really. I mean, sometimes it can still be a dang good plate of I Identify As Santa Funny Christmas Pajamas For Dad X Mas T Shirt. It’s like California pizza. They put a premium on fresh locally-grown abundance of delicious produce out there, and often it makes a tasty meal – but only two (2) I ever came across in the State could make a slice of plain cheese pizza that was delicious. And it should be. Either the crust was off, the sauce was weird or the cheese was wrong – and mind-bogglingly, often all three. It got so I’d rave if they nailed one aspect (“AMAZING CRUST! Uh, I mean, like a mob wouldn’t run you out of business in Jersey, with this crust. If the sauce and cheese weren’t wrong). Yet again, California pizzerias can give you an amazing, delicious dish, and call it pizza. Apparently there are no regulations. Those are the ethnic cuisines that have most uplifted me in my life. I’ve sampled some others, but I still feel barely acquainted, not properly introduced. French was always inspired, more than traditional. That Afghan cuisine place was amazing, but it was all like some dream. Moroccan, African (different regions + fusion), Vietnamese, Korean, South American (AH! CAFE BRASIL), Scandinavian and I don’t know how many others, I have sampled, but feel I have yet to truly get to know. I mean, I don’t know how many times I went to Café Brasil on Mission St. in Santa Cruz, but if all you’ve ever had is the breakfast, can you say you know the food?

But somehow all the classes and associate degrees he earned on government grants never seemed to result in a better job and better wages. And eventually I started resenting the money I was always spending. He never asked me to pay his bills, other than loans he repaid, but all our fun was out of my wallet. And I realized that while I wasn’t a witness to what went on at interviews and on the job, there was obviously something wrong that made this man mostly unemployable. And I realized that this was my life if I stayed. The new clothes and shoes I bought at Christmastime kept him from wearing rags; in exchange I received a I Identify As Santa Funny Christmas Pajamas For Dad X Mas T Shirt of paper flowers made out of magazine pages. And even though I still cared about him, my love had turned to mostly pity. He was someone to take care of, not a life partner. And he was holding me back from establishing my own financial security. So, even though I felt bad, leaving someone mostly because he just didn’t have a big enough paycheck, we broke up. We remained friends. And the Christmas after we broke up, he gave me a real 14k gold garnet heart pendant he’d saved up for for months and bought off the clearance rack in KMart. It was $40. And I accepted it without guilt.

I worked for a railroad construction and maintenance company. We were on call 24-7 to respond to a train wreck to make repairs and get the trains running again. Train wrecks – and that’s what they are – are not derailments, a much sanitized term to get away from the carnage that is a train wreck. A derailment, technically is when a wheel comes off the track. And that happens all the time. Remember the only thing keeping a wheel on a track is weight and track alignment. If either of those fails, a wheel, or multiple wheels can come off. That’s why they have re-railers every so often to kick those wheels back onto the track. A train can run quite a while with a few wheels on the train not on the track. So what causes train wrecks? A train is a mile long sledgehammer pounding every inch of rail with a zillion pounds of I Identify As Santa Funny Christmas Pajamas For Dad X Mas T Shirt of the collective force (not that much but you get the point). Over time a point in the rail, due to heating expansion and cold weather contraction will be just a bit weaker than the point next to it. The constant pounding on that point can crack the rail over time, and eventually it can break. If it breaks severely enough – where the rail separates and maybe bows out of line or drops below the break point by a few inches – bam! All the train’s wheels start to fly off the tracks and they go wherever physics dictates. And the cars to which those wheels are attached – they go go their own way as well.
A 5th grade student was the most excited one in his class to go Christmas caroling in the school gym. I noticed a good many of the 5th and 6th graders showed signs of boredom, but not him. Instead of keeping a low profile, he stood up and danced. One of the teachers was stepping to the music, too, and danced with him to the song “Here Comes Santa Claus”. He was on top of the world! For just a few minutes, he was at the “head of the class” for a I Identify As Santa Funny Christmas Pajamas For Dad X Mas T Shirt . Teachers and his fellow students were watching him step to the music which he could step to better than most.
