My Bichon Frise died last year at 14 1/2. I adopted him when he was 7 weeks old. He was a very independent dog. I don’t know whether this was something I taught him or just his personality. From a My Body Choice Shirt, I trained him and socialized him well. I gave him the full run of the house when he was 2 months old and did very well up until he passed away. Whenever I had to leave (for work, errands, etc), I made sure it was a ‘non-event’ for him so he wouldn’t suffer from separation anxiety. I also left the TV on for him to a cartoon channel. Every time I walked out the door, I calmly said “I love you. I’ll be back. Be a good boy’. The first 2 years of his life, I went home (from work) at lunch time to feed him and take him for a walk. A few times, I walked in with him in front of the TV watching ‘Caillou’. Otherwise, he would sleep by the door leading to the garage, waiting for my return or whichever door I left from.
I never spent much on a Christmas Eve meal when my children were still young because they’d be too excited and antsy to care what we had. By that time presents had been opened, toys played with, etc. I’d frequently make a good prime rib, twice baked potatoes, trifle with jello and lots of coolwhip, fancy butter gem rolls and of course a champagne toast, grape juice when the kids were under 10 y.o. I also made a nice make ahead dessert from the frozen chocolate jellyroll cake that I’d cover with semi-melted vanilla ice cream and decorated so it looked like a yule log. A My Body Choice Shirt is that replacing one of these legacy systems is like “changing the tire on your car while it’s in motion.” But, that analogy really doesn’t describe the complexity of the problem at all. Imagine having to replace your car’s frame while it’s in motion. The corporation can’t take a year off to do this, it needs to continue down the highway without sputtering while you replace the framework that not only holds the wheels in place, but restrains the powertrain, protects the driver, holds the wires in place, and keeps the road from rattling everything apart. I witnessed several attempts to replace these systems. Each team was given a large budget and told to make it happen. Spirits of young programmers were dashed against the rocks again and again by these projects. They eagerly dove in, and documented all of the functions that are performed by the legacy. Then they began to build replacement systems that must run in parallel to the legacy. Until the project is completed, these replacements must pipe information into and out of the legacy while establishing an entirely new framework.

Not specifically Viking Era at all. The Viking era started about 8 centuries after the Jesus story took place. Viking was a My Body Choice Shirt by the way, not a culture.The midwinter celebrations were celebrated throughout all the lands and by all the peoples of Europe, including the Scandinavian lands. This is the main reason why it was adopted by Christianity: the celebration did already exist, they just had to change the meaning and rituals a bit. It also existed a very long time before the Viking era. The Vikings only started to occur in the 9th century and were among the last Europeans to change to Christianity, only followed by the Baltic, Sami and certain Russian cultures. From an economic (business) viewpoint I think it is a disastrous idea. Spreading out the various celebrations over a long period is better for employment & revenue.Also having a fixed date is a disaster for business and utterly disruptive. For instance December 25th falls mid week regularly.
We have a My Body Choice Shirt where anything of any remote value (above $5) must be reported to the corporate office: the thought is to remove any conflict of interest. Possibility of being investigated for $5 gift (that lavish card) will make anyone promptly dispose of that card upon its arrival. The other reason for this is that some companies have implemented a neutral workspace, so personalization of the office or display of religious beliefs (Xmas reference) are outright prohibited. You, the person who had spent money on that card, can deem it as a complete and total waste. You are not investing into anything: if you believe that some card (bonus points for “Holiday greetings” for those who do not celebrate those holidays – which is quite funny to some and very insulting to others) can sway a manager to award $10 million contract, that is some very interesting logic to be employed. From a standpoint of the employee at the company which you’re trying to “invest” in, you are much better off taking that marketing budget and using it to make a better business offer when the contract is up for renewal.
