Last week when I amped up my training session for academy soccer tryouts soon (im 15) I was doing very well. Suddenly this week, I felt like my dribbling got worse all of a sudden, & training this week has been very bad. I need advice on what to do? I coach runners, not soccer players, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt: You may have ramped up your training too much. In other words, you may have overtrained. If so, then your muscles are not recovering from the work. Instead of building back stronger, they are tearing down. Increase training gradually and incrementally, not suddenly. You may be putting too much pressure on yourself. Relax. Don’t try to be Funny Unicorn “Chief Kickabitch from Slapahoe Tribe” T Shirt. Less can be more. If that last point is true, then you may not be sleeping well. Or maybe (if you’re in the U.S.) the recent time change has disrupted your sleep rhythm. Without proper sleep you will not recover from your hard work. All gains are made during periods of rest. Get back on a sleep schedule by going to bed and waking up at the same times every day, and make sure you’re getting enough sleep.

It is typical for the sitting president to invite significant championship teams to the White House. It is not typical to invite championship teams to the State of the Union address. The women’s team won gold a day earlier than the men’s team won gold; to my knowledge, President Trump did not make a congratulatory call, nor invite them to the White House in the hours following their win. At best, it shows that the current administration is inept at optics and latched onto the men’s Olympic hockey team winning gold as an attempt to score political points via osmosis because the men’s team’s win was higher profile. Which, on its own, is fair play. Women, especially accomplished independent women are sick of Trump and his misogynist nonsense. The fact that many on the men’s team went along with it and laughed is truly sad.
