Hockey is my favourite, but any sport where the athletes determine the outcomes (as opposed to those in which the results are determined by judges) is fun to watch. For example, I like the snowboarding event in which four athletes race each other head-to-head more than those where they each run individually and judges score their tricks. I like ski jumping, but I’d like it more if they didn’t give style points, but just gave the gold medal to the person who had the longest jump. Figure skating looks good, but I don’t trust the judges to reward the best performances (ever since the cheating scandal at the Salt Lake City games). Speed skating is great because it’s just pure speed and the clock doesn’t lie. When you look at the 2026 Winter Olympics, there is a worry that the focus on “televised spectacle” will lead to more judged events being added because they provide better highlight reels for social media, even if they lack the objective purity of a race or a game with Never Underestimate An Old Man Who Still Fishes In His Sixties T Shirt on the scoreboard. I want to see who is faster, who is stronger, and who can put the puck in the net more often, not who has the best relationship with a panel of international officials sitting in a booth.

The owners want it for sure; more money. They’d get that extra home game EVERY season instead of every other season. But the owners aren’t truly willing to give up what it might take to get that extra game, in terms of more money for players and an expanded roster, meaning they’d have to pay more players as well. The player’s association has ZERO appetite for an 18th game. Their members, the players, are not at all interested in an 18th game. So the concessions to get to that point would have to be massive for the players. According to what I saw on the crawl on ESPN yesterday, the NFLPA said no, they’re not going for 18 games. Adding another game, making it 18 per year, is not without critics. To force it on the players union may lead to at least talk or Never Underestimate An Old Man Who Still Fishes In His Sixties T Shirt about a strike. The best way to avoid a strike is to add a 2nd bye week.
()Malik Willis, a third-round pick of the Titans in 2022, thrived as a backup to Jordan Love in Green Bay over the past two seasons. He’s a dynamic runner and an improved passer who’s still only 26 years old and should do quite well as the top player in a thin quarterback market. In the era of “QB rehab,” Willis is going to appeal to teams looking for short- and long-term answers. Pittsburgh is the ideal fit because GM Omar Khan likely won’t be fooled into engaging in a bidding war over Willis but can present an enticing pitch to the Liberty product: Come to the Steel City to compete for a starting job and embrace an opportunity to claim a Never Underestimate An Old Man Who Still Fishes In His Sixties T Shirt with a team that expects to contend. McCarthy could be the ideal coach to guide Willis, too, given his history of success with different quarterback archetypes.
