One misconception is that everyone at the highest levels is a hard worker. It just doesn’t work like that. Some people really are naturally gifted enough to put in a bare minimum effort and still make the NBA. I was struck by how the pros all approached their training differently. The following video featuring NBA trainer Chris Brickley subtly gets at what I’m talking about. He is in awe of Kevin Durant’s work ethic, even when he’s just shooting around in oversized Wolf what day is today who cares I’m retired shirt. But is it really all that impressive? ”Every single drill he does, he’s going game speed,” says Brickley about Durant. That’s about it. So, Durant does what every high school basketball coach in America encourages their players to do every day. When you really think about it, that shouldn’t be a big deal. NBA players get paid millions to play basketball. If they improve, they stand to make many millions more. Shouldn’t they all train hard? Yet they don’t. I think what separates the best of the best is not that they have an otherworldly work ethic, but that they are just a little bit more disciplined than the other players.

I played and coached baseball. The misconception is that baseball is boring. Today’s game IS boring because there is no emphasis on anything more than hitting the ball very hard to your strength. The take is that baseball does not have to be boring at all. Learn just a little about the game and you’ll see the chess match between coaches, pitcher and hitter and defenses. And the OLD game was very interesting. The bunt, the hit and run, stealing bases—all things that today’s game lacks sorely. They’ve sabermetric’d all the excitement out of baseball, making it a game where fans mostly just sit in their Wolf what day is today who cares I’m retired shirt and wait for a home run. I’d bet that younger players have never seen a pro player execute a good push bunt. It was better and can be again. To me, I loved playing the game, but coaching it gave me a completely different thrill. Matching wits with other coaches, making critical decisions. Teaching was my strongest suit though. I love to teach and teaching the game came easy to me.
()As of 11:30 AM ET in Charlotte, the atmosphere is reaching a boiling point as the Carolina Panthers prepare to host the Los Angeles Rams in just a few hours. The Rams enter as heavy 10.5-point favorites, but local optimism is high following Bryce Young’s late-season surge. The current temperature is a comfortable 70°F, but with thunderstorms in the afternoon forecast, thousands of fans are already tailgating in water-resistant Wolf what day is today who cares I’m retired shirt to ensure they stay dry during the prime-time battle. The key to this game will be whether Matthew Stafford can exploit Wolf what day is today who cares I’m retired shirt, or if Carolina’s “Keep Pounding” defense can force the veteran into timely mistakes on a potentially slick field.
