🔥 Insider Update: Suns’ Chances of Landing Jonathan Kuminga Take a Hit

The Phoenix Suns have been tied to Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga for months, but with training camp looming, their pursuit looks like it’s running out of steam.

According to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic, both the Suns and Sacramento Kings remain in the mix, but the odds of a deal happening with either team are “highly unlikely” unless there’s a dramatic change in negotiations.

“The Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns remain the two suitors in play, though league and team sources say a deal with either team is highly unlikely unless something significant changes regarding the respective offers,” Amick reported.

The Kings are reportedly under the impression that Kuminga wants to play in Sacramento, while the Warriors already shut down talks earlier this summer. Still, Golden State could revisit discussions “at the 11th hour.”

🌵 Where the Suns Stand

The Suns reportedly offered Royce O’Neale and draft capital in a trade package, along with a four-year, $90 million contract for Kuminga. While he would’ve been an intriguing fit next to Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, and Jalen Green, Phoenix’s revamped roster may already be set heading into camp.

With Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant gone and a brand-new leadership group in GM Brian Gregory and head coach Jordan Ott, the Suns are still shaping a new identity. Kuminga, for now, doesn’t seem to be part of it.

🚨 Big Picture

All signs point to Sacramento as the more likely landing spot if Kuminga leaves Golden State. As for the Suns, their roster makeover may already be complete — and betting big on Booker’s new era could be the smarter play.
