At a military museum in France, visitors were offered the opportunity to wear mediaeval ; to see how it felt and its weight. It soon became obvious that every single visitor who tried on the armour was simply too big. Not too tall, just too fat. The breastplates, especially, couldn’t fit round the tubby bellies and hips of all who tried. Then the guide noticed me and my corseted waist. That day, I was laced to a figure of 36C bust, 20 inches waist and 38 inch hips. That is about 90–50–95 cm. He pointed me out to the crowd and they all cheered until I stepped forward.

Lastly, sweatpants (or yoga pants) with “Juicy” printed across the backside. Any branding across the back is unnecessary, but “ ” really takes my mind to a bad place. As an aside, this one is gender neutral: If you’re paying money for pre-ruined clothes, or for cheap clothes with a brand name on them, then I’m not sure what’s wrong with you. I have never understood why someone would pay extra to wear an uncomfortable t-shirt advertising for Abercrombie. I know there’s peer pressure to wear the “right” brands in some circles, and I know there’s that luxury-bragging of having a brand name purse, but I don’t understand why those things are more important than comfort and function.
